Charlie Chaplin’s final house. Prevented from re-entering the USA in 1953 for alleged communist sympathies, the pioneering film actor, director and composer settled near Vevey and enjoyed a superb semi-retirement. Not bad for a boy born into poverty in Lambeth who lived for a time in a workhouse. The house is now part of a superb museum honouring the great man.
